About Us

Perth Chocolate Works is located in Perth, Ontario, on the main floor of the historic Code’s Mill building.

With extensive experience and training at The Chocolate Academy in Montreal and The French Pastry School in Chicago, Louise and her daughters Heather and Brenda also employ the most up-to-date methods and processes to create their delicious chocolate delicacies. Perth Chocolate Works uses Selmi, an Italian brand of chocolate equipment – now expanding their line with two tempering machines and the first automatic truffle mill in North America.

Our handmade products are carefully created in small batches using the highest quality Belgian Callebaut chocolate. The creation of fine quality chocolates demands precise execution of tempering, filling and mold preparation, enrobing, cooling and storage. Proper preparation of ingredients, equipment, temperature and timing are all critical aspects in creating the highest quality products.

Perth Chocolate Works originally started on Manitoulin Island. With the want for expansion and the love for the Ottawa Valley, Heather took on the challenge of finding the perfect spot with her family right behind her. Perth opened its doors to the McKeen family and it automatically felt like a home away from home. Code’s Mill had everything the family had been searching for.

Heather will run Perth Chocolate Works and has recently purchased a house in Perth with her husband. The McKeen family will be working together to make handmade chocolates at Code’s Mill for all chocolate lovers in the Ottawa Valley.

Heather has been involved with both the retail and production sides of the business for several years. After completing a degree in Business Management at the University of Ottawa, she returned to Manitoulin Chocolate Works as Manager and has now expanded to Perth to become her own proprietor of Perth Chocolate Works . Heather has earned two professional level certificates in chocolate from the French Pastry School in Chicago. She thoroughly enjoys working with chocolate and the opportunity to create new indulgences for chocolate lovers.

Only the finest ingredients, traditional techniques and state of the art equipment are used to create sumptuous, irresistible chocolates and confections.
